Dye Sublimation is a heat transfer process Purple Tuna uses to decorate not only clothing but also many promotional items. The dye sublimation inks are a pigment suspended in a liquid solvent, like water. The images are initially printed on coated transfer paper. The image on the paper is a reverse image of the final design, so it can be transferred onto polyester fabric under pressure and heat (180 to 210 degrees Celsius, or about 375 degrees Fahrenheit). Under high temperature and pressure, the dye turns into a gas and permeates the fabric and then solidifies into its fibers. The fabric is permanently dyed so it can be washed without damaging the quality of the image.
Our talented pool of creative artists render custom images as simple as custom team names and numbers to high end four color process photographic images which we prepare and print from the highest quality dye sublimation printers using the most advanced printing inks available. These images are transferred on to products from high performance wicking team jerseys and t-shirts to coffee mugs, koozies, car tags, car flags, bags, bookmarks and many other assorted products.
